Guess who's back?
Wow this honestly feels so weird right now typing out this blog-post.
It has honestly been that long, I don’t even think I can remember the last time I wrote a blog post, I am sure you guys can considering my most recent posts are on my homepage.
I think I owe you all an explanation as to why I decided to take a nearly six-month break from blogging.
I had decided way before even stepping into the world of blogging, that I would do blogging because I believed my purpose was linked to it, and it was.
Since year 6, I have always loved to write, whether it be short stories or a full on novel. I just loved to write.
Hence why I am studying Journalism.
For a Nigerian woman, going into a profession that concerns writing is very backwards, because it is not seen as something stable, however this wasn’t going to stop me. Writing was going to be involved in my world somehow.
So, when I turned 19, almost two years ago now, I felt like something was missing from my life. I could see all my friends knowing what their purpose was, who they wanted to be and what type of mark they wanted to make in society.
Me, on the other hand, I had no idea who I was called to be and what I wanted to do in the future. I just knew I had a passion for writing.
So, there I was, on my bed, searching up WordPress and began to start writing my first ever blog-post called: ‘Appreciate the beauty within.’
Honestly, I have no idea how this blog post came to me. Really and truly, I believe it was the Holy Spirit, guiding me and leading me to the type of content I was supposed to write.
He is leading me right now.
‘Appreciate the beauty within’ is still till this date, my most popular blog post. I can still remember the amount of messages and love I received after publishing it.
Fast forward to last Summer, I launched my new blog ‘Esthessentials’ and I LOVED IT. The whole look of my blog, the vibe and the content I was putting out made me really happy. This included my movement #Womenhaveavoicetoo (check it out on Instagram if you haven’t already).
However, then as the months went by, I started to feel less and less passionate about blogging and because it became such a trend, I felt like I wasn’t doing anything special.
I was simply a sheep following other sheep.
The content I was putting out wasn’t really the type of content I had initially planned to do, when I first created this blog. I wanted everything on my blog to have some kind of empowering message behind it, I wanted it to galvanise the females who read my posts and I wanted to have fun with it.
This led me to taking a break from blogging all together, I have not posted since mid-November.
It definitely has been refreshing and has forced me to think about the type of platform I want my blog to be.
I want my blog to leave women smiling, leave them with their heads held high and leave them feeling like they have the potential to do anything and be anything.
I also want the aesthetics of my blog to look amazing, after all I am creating a brand.
I want it to look like me. I want people to look at my blog and say: “Wow this is so Esther!”
With the new design and the photos I have included, I honestly think I have achieved that and I hope you all love it.
I just wanted to say, I know you have all missed me! (I have missed you too).
But, I am back and better!
This blog is going to reach new and higher levels. God is going to take me on such a magnificent journey and I want you all to come along with me!
