No longer a silent servant
The blood, the scars, the crown of thorns, the pierced hands and feet and the cross carried on the destroyed back. All for me and you.
Last weekend, I watched the Passion of Christ for I think the second time in my life and let me tell you something…
I cried like a baby.
I can still hear my mum’s voice saying ‘Don’t cry Feyisayo’ (my Nigerian name for those that don’t know), her saying this just made my sobs get louder and louder.
The reason why I was crying was because I was shocked at the pain and torture my Lord and Saviour went through all because of the love He had for me and you.
Every time the soldiers were whipping Jesus and would laugh, I would cry, every time Jesus would fall because the pain of the cross was too much, I would cry and every time I saw Mary the mother and Mary Magdalene tears fall down their faces, I would cry.
Let me tell you something, Jesus could FEEL everything. I think a lot of the time we can forget that Jesus was living in human flesh just like you and I, this means the whip, the thorns and the piercings, He felt it all.
He also felt the humiliation, the laughter and the mockery people were giving Him. Yes, He knew that they didn’t understand and were blinded, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t still painful.
You may be asking why on earth would He go through all of this?
The answer is simple.
He loved us.
He still loves us.
He loved us so much, He decided to bear the pain and suffering so we could be liberated. Liberated from our sins, our addictions, our pains and our brokenness.
He took that burden and carried it all.
However, now that He has paid the price what does He want us to do?
I ask this question because after watching an amazing sermon by Pastor Michael Todd from the Transformation Church, I realised that a lot of us know the price Jesus paid on the cross, but we are not living it.
Jesus died on the cross so that we could be free enough to spread the message of the Kingdom.
He broke the chains so we could break the chains off others, He lifted the burdens so we could lift the burdens off others, He served us so we could serve others and He loved us so we could love others.
Pastor Michael Todd said something extraordinary, he said that God has provided us the table and the full plates of food, but there are no people to come and fill the chairs.
All we have are silent servants.
Let me ask you this: what is the point of God giving us Grace if we are not using that Grace to speak out and share the message?
You may be asking what is the message?
The message is all about Jesus’ love.
We need to invite people and tell them about the love that Jesus has to offer. We need to tell them that their problems will be solved through the acceptance of Jesus.
I know some of you may be thinking if only it was that easy. But it is that easy!
I am not telling you that when you accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour you won’t have problems, because you will, but you can be assured that Jesus will always be with you and come through for you.
He is with you in your weakness and in your strength.
I don’t want to be silent anymore. On my blog I am always talking about the power of my voice, however I have come to realise that I have not been using my voice for the Kingdom.
The reason why God gave me this voice was to shout about His Kingdom.
I want to encourage you all today who are reading this blog post to also use your voice. Proclaim the Gospel and don’t be ashamed of it.
I know the enemy can get into your mind, making you think that nobody is going to listen or care. He can make you think you are a nobody or make you feel as though your sins are too much. Your sins are never too much to spread the Gospel!
Stop thinking you are not qualified enough. You became qualified as soon as Jesus went on that cross.
Mark 10:45- “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.”
I want you all to never forget this, Jesus came to serve us and now we need to serve others.
I felt so strong in my spirit to write this blog-post especially because we were just celebrating Easter.
Please share with everyone you know!
