SKINCARE AND MAKE-UP PRODUCTS I AM LOVING AT THE MOMENT

Welcome back to yet another blog post! We are going to do something different this time, I am going to be telling you about various skincare and make-up products I am loving at the moment.

We are currently in the Winter and Fall months, which means our skins are getting drier and unfortunately our make-up is becoming more tone downed and neutral.

Let me tell you something about me, I actually don't change my make-up or my skincare routine according to the seasons of the year (mostly because I am lazy and I know what I like), but also because my skin remains OILY throughout the whole year and my make-up 'looks' will always have some kind of colour.

Let's start off with the Skincare products shall we?

Now I have extremely oily skin and acne prone skin. I have learnt to accept this and love this part of me because as much as I love make-up, I love my natural face.

The products I am showing you now have helped immensely with my oily skin and improved my acne more than I can imagine.

Yes, I still have spots and my skin regularly gets oily but it is way more controllable.

1. SIMPLE CLEANSING OIL:

This cleansing oil is the BOMB.

I used to think because I have oily skin, there is no way I should be putting more oil on my skin as it would just make it worse.

This, however is not the case at all and it is actually a big misconception us oily individuals have.

Most of the time, if you have oily skin, you most likely have dehydrated skin. This means your skin is working overtime to produce some hydration and moisture, which looks like oil on our skin. Instead of running away from oils, we need to run towards them because they provide great hydration.

I use this cleansing oil as the first-step to my double-cleansing routine. Oil based cleansing is fantastic as I have learnt from many of the skincare experts on Youtube.

This cleansing oil has honestly changed the way I do skincare. It beautifully melts off my make-up, I no longer use make-up wipes because of this product.

2. MY FACIAL WASHES:

Biore Charcoal Anti-Blemish Cleanser

The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Cleansing Gel (Brought this product in America, and I have been unable to find it in Superdrug).

I have included three facial washes here because I love them all.

As part of my double-cleansing routine I use either a facial wash or a cleanser/cleansing gel straight after taking off my make-up with an oil cleanser.

I only started double-cleansing a couple of months back as I started to notice significant changes to my skin. When it came to skincare I used to be extremely lazy... then I realised that better skincare equals better make-up, so I began to take my skin way more seriously.

The first product I want to talk about is Neutrogena's Hydro Boost Cleansing Gel. All I can say is amazing! The way this gel hydrates your skin after you have taken off your make-up is something else. It leaves your skin soft and smooth, like you can actually feel it.

Unfortunately I tried to buy this recently, as I was running out but I couldn't find it! If only I could fly back to America and purchase it once again... I am sure my skin would thank me.

The second facial wash I use from time to time is the Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash. Before you ask why I use various facial washes, I am going to just say because I can... Also I like to alternate between a hydrating facial wash and one that helps with oily skin, I believe my skin likes it that way.

This Tea Tree Facial Wash is the best thing to use when I want my skin to be less oily. I don't know why but for some weird reason my skin loves Tea Tree. It has always reacted very well to it ever since I started using it about a year ago. Some people think Tea Tree is actually very bad for you, however I think it really depends on how sensitive your skin is. If anyone who has oily skin would like to try some Tea Tree, I would just suggest you use it cautiously (as you would with any new skin care product).

The last facial wash you see in the picture above is the Biore Charcoal Anti Blemish Cleanser. I brought this as a replacement for the Neutrogena one, since I couldn’t find it. I have always been a big fan of the Biore brand because their products have really helped my skin! This one in particular is great at getting rid of all the excess dirt once I have taken off my make up. It also has a very special ingredient called salicylic acid, which helps fight the appearance of blemishes. The only thing I would say about this cleanser is that it has a strong smell, I am guessing because of the salicylic acid and also it is quite thick so it might be uncomfortable on the skin for some. Other than this I would highly recommend it!

3. Garnier Rose Soothing Toner:

The next product I have been loving lately is the Garnier Rose Soothing Toner. I think applying toner to my skin is my favourite part of my skincare routine. I love what it does to my face and sometimes when I can't be bothered to double cleanse I just use this after washing my face.

It as simple as putting a drop of it onto a clean cotton pad and then applying it all over to my face. I have seen some people use their hands, but honestly I think this is weird (SORRY)!

I believe using a toner as part of your daily skincare routine is very important because it gets rid of any residual make-up on your face, balances the PH of your skin, controls acne and various other things.

I particularly like this toner for two main reasons, one it has rose water and two it smells AMAZING. Rose water helps in removing oil and dirt found in the pores, also it is all natural. Who doesn't love an all natural skin care product?

On top of this, the smell of rose water is so nice (sometimes I even want to add more and more to my skin just so I can smell it)!

4. Revolution Skincare 10% Niacinamide and 1% Zinc :

Lately I have been using a Serum. I have finally heard the Patricia Bright's and Jackie Aina's of the world! And trust me it has done wonders for my skin.

I used to think that the more product you add to your face, the worse your skin gets. Oh how wrong was I!

Adding a serum to my skin basically already adds moisture before even adding any moisturiser.

The one I am using right now is perfect for my pores and my acne. I simply just use the pipette to apply it to my cheeks, chin and my forehead, rub it in right after I have used my toner.

I love love Make up Revolution as a brand, I would buy all their products if I could. The fact that they have started branching out and focusing on skincare is great, there are not enough beauty brands who do skincare as well as they do make-up.

5. Simple's All Day Mattifying Moisturiser:

My last skincare product I have been loving at the moment is the Simple's All Day Mattifying Moisturiser.

Now I bet you are asking me how can a moisturiser be mattifying, doesn't that defeat its whole purpose?

Well this product both hydrates and helps get rid of excess oil. This is just what my skin needs! I use it as a last step to my skincare routine and it is a good thing to use before you wear a full face of make-up for the whole day.

NOW FOR THE MAKE-UP PRODUCTS!!!! (Obviously the best part of this blog post)

1. Maybelline's Fit Me Foundation in the shade '358':

Recently, I decided to purchase a new foundation just because I like new make-up and I have heard great reviews about this one from Maybelline.

I love a good, matte foundation mostly because my skin reacts to it the best. As I have said many times before, I have extremely oily skin so I need something that makes my skin less oily.

This foundation you see above is the one! I love the finish it gives me and how beautifully it blends out on my skin.

Unfortunately if you have dry skin, I wouldn't recommend this foundation for you but for those like me you might want to consider it. I mix this foundation with my Makeup Revolution ‘Conceal and Define‘ Foundation in the shade 13.5, I like the colour these two give me when mixed together.

2. Make up Revolution 'Supersize Conceal and Define Concealer' in the shade 12.5:

I remember when everyone used to rave about this concealer, and now you don't really hear about it anymore.

Well I am here to bring it back to the limelight.

This concealer, let me tell you this concealer is one of the best drugstore concealers out there today. I use it to conceal my eyebrows and highlight under my eyes, I recently changed the shade I use however because the one I used previously was a bit too orange for me. Shade 12.5 is the perfect highlight for me now, and guess what it is only £7!!!

3. Elf 16hr Camo Concealer in the shade 'Deep Chestnut':

"Try the Elf Camo Concealer" I think I have heard this about a million times?

So I finally listened to you all and decided to buy it on my last make-up shop.

Damn were these people right, this concealer is EVERYTHING!!!! I MEAN EVERYTHING! (you can clearly tell the amount of love I have for this concealer from the amount of capital letters I have used).

One of the best things about this concealer is the coverage, the coverage is MAD. You know those concealers that like to lie about being full coverage, when in reality they aren't, this concealers isn't one of them.

Just putting literally one stroke under your eye is more than enough trust me.

And... when it says it lasts for 16 hrs, it really means it. I wear this concealer to work and it lasts the whole shift, still looking flawless by the time I go home.

I do like to mix this concealer with my Make-up Revolution one because the Elf one is very thick, and I guess you could say that I want to water it down. It is honestly the best combination!

4. L'oreal True Match Powder:

Let's move onto the powder shall we?

I have been using this powder for almost two years now I think and I don't think I am ever going to change it. This powder is 10/10!

I use it all over my face after I have done everything and it just blends into my skin seamlessly. If you are looking for a powder and don't have £24 to spend on studio fix from Mac, then this is the powder for you.

5. Make-up Revolution X Patricia Bright Face Palette in the shade 'Dusk till Dawn'

"Hello darlings and welcome to back to my channel" (me trying to do my best Patricia Bright impression).

You know me I had to get my hands on the Patricia Bright collection with Make-up Revolution, I started with the face palette. I did this because I have been looking for a good drugstore contour, blush and highlight for us dark skin girls!!! And Mrs Bright came through with these palettes.

The pigmentation... Jesus the pigmentation leaves me speechless. I don't have to add that much product to my face that's how strong the colour is. This is just the contour shade I am talking about (btw), wait until you try the blush and the highlight.

I am always looking for a popping highlighter because if you know me, you would know I love highlighter.

Guys I am telling you now GET THIS PALETTE. It is worth spending all of £8 for! And don’t you worry guys I will be purchasing Mrs Bright‘s ‘Rich In Colour‘ Palette during Christmas. She should just take ALL MY MONEY!!

6. Elf Make-up Fixing and Setting Spray:

If you haven't already noticed I love drugstore brands, not only because it is affordable but also because you can literally get whatever you need there and it can still be quality.

You just have to know where to look. I have had many years practise.

I brought a new setting spray a couple of weeks back because I had gotten tired of the ones I was using beforehand and didn't really see the difference it was making on my face.

Most people, even some beauty bloggers/influencers don't really see the point in using setting sprays. To be honest I used to think setting sprays were just an unnecessary waste of water that you spray on your face after doing your make-up.

However, now that I have found the right one it has made all the difference to my make-up. It basically does what it says, 'sets' the make-up or in better terms it locks everything in.

7. NYX Butter Glosses in the shades 'Ginger Snap and Praline':

Last, but certainly not least are my absolute favourite lipglosses. If you have not heard about the NYX Butter Glosses WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN SLEEPING???????

These lipglosses are the BOMB!

You can either wear them on their own or you could mix them with a nice brown/nude lipstick. I tend to do this because I love the way a gloss looks on a liquid lipstick, it makes it look complete. These butter glosses last all day, are not overly sticky and have great colour, especially for a nude lipgloss on a brown skin girl.

I hope you have all enjoyed reading my current favourite make-up and skincare products!
